Cuaro Region
Note: The numbers displayed (1-26) Indicate the route numbers for the Cuaro Region.
A - Pokemon League Residents: The Elite 4, The Champion. Towering above the clouds and hewn from the northern Tempest Mountains themselves, the Pokemon League is the ultimate goal for all Pokemon trainers in Cuaro. Landmarks: The Pokemon League building.
B - Frostwind Lake Gym: Herman (Ice) Residents: Herman. A solitary house sits on the eastern shore of this ice-bound lake. It is rumoured that the last of Cuaro’s eight Gym Leaders can be found there, meditating in the extreme conditions. Landmarks: The Frostwind Falls.
C - Igna Village Gym: Ignacio (Fire) Residents: Ignacio, the Igna Knights. Clustered around the fortified citadel of the Igna Knights, Igna Village serves as a barrier to the harsh badlands around Mt. Igna. Only those dubbed worthy by Ignacio - Gym Leader and head of the Knights - are allowed to train on the fiery slopes of the volcano. Landmarks: Citadel of the Igna Knights, Mt. Igna.
D - Youthville Residents: Professor Alder, Player, Player’s rival,(James/Lauren) Gerald Orion (hometown) Youthville is a town of life and beauty. Its floral streets and gurgling fountain present to the outsider a welcoming and joyous atmosphere. Even the resident professor’s infamous moods cannot put a dampener on the towns appeal to young families looking for a life in the country. Landmarks: Professor Alder’s Lab, Youthville fountain.
E - Pinelake Town Residents: Libra (hometown) The peaceful fishing town of Pinelake lazes on the banks of the River Cuaro with a tempo a Snorlax would find downbeat. Many of the towns younger residents have moved away to seek their fortune in the regions grand cities. Landmarks: Pine Lake, Contest Hall.
F - Meadew Town Residents: Carmen (hometown). Amongst the long, swaying grass and occasional acacia trees of the Great Plains, Meadew Town sits as the gateway to the Safari Zone reserve. Many a protégé has been inspired by the breathtaking beauty of Meadew’s surrounding landscape. Landmarks: The Safari Zone.
G - Archeal Town Residents: Samuel (Archeal Town Outskirts) “The mouth of the Serpent, where death is breathed from between its fangs.” Archeal is a morbid town of memories and ghosts, an atmosphere made all the more foreboding by the looming shadow of the Memorial Tower. Landmarks: Memorial Tower
H - Tempest Village Gym: Zach (Electric) Residents: Zach, Austin (hometown) Deep in the Tempest Mountains, Tempest Village’s terraced gardens and precarious round houses make its two peaks stand out like sore thumbs amongst the range’s other barren, steely-grey mountains. Not to mention the Gym’s preposterous lightning-collecting pylon and the massive shape of Riven Peak hidden in the storm clouds. Landmarks: Riven Peak.
I - Redwood Grove Gym: Claudia and Skylar (Flying) Residents: Claudia, Skylar, Xerxes, Cassandra. Rising out of the Great Plains like the trees from which the city takes its name, are five enormous towers known collectively as Redwood Grove. They rise over half a kilometre straight up into the air and support between them the residential, leisure, management and Pokemon-related needs of the majority of the modern population of the Cuaro region. Four towers of equal height are situated around the massive central tower at the four compass points and they are all connected to each other and the central tower by a web of walkways and sub-towers. Landmarks: Gemini Tower, the four other great towers.
J - Lithos City Gym: Kimberley (Steel) Residents: Kimberley. A raw and rocky city where human steel meets the forces of nature, Lithos City is built around the mining trade and the rare metals deposited there by an ancient meteor strike. The Lithos Gym is located in the meteor’s impact crater. Landmarks: The Lithos Crater, Lithos Mine.
K - Russet City Gym: Juliet (Poison) Residents: Juliet, Andromeda (hometown). Russet City wallows in the smog of its many factories and foundries. The only constructs that breach the sickly, brown pallor are the nuclear power plant’s enormous cooling towers. The city is surrounded by a toxic halo of bare earth and sparse, yellowed grass where its poisons have polluted the plains it is built on. Landmarks: Russet Power Station.
L - Stalvern City Gym: Savannah (Ground) Residents: Savannah. Long ago, when Cuaro was a land of roving clans and indigenous tribes, one group of people happened across a massive mountain that had been hollowed out by desert winds and run off from the stormy mountains further north. They settled in this gigantic cave and nowadays it is known as the thriving, yet secretive, Stalvern City. Landmarks: Stalvern Mountain.
M - Ouwahlu Oil Works Ouwahlu is indigenous Cuaronian for “oil well” and the nodding donkeys on the edge of the Ouwahlu Desert show that it is no longer just the locals that know of the area’s underground reserves of ‘black gold’. N - Souhgem Port Residents: Ethar (post E4) Souhgem Port is a town of two sides. The one side with its gaudy pier, souvenir shops and expensive restaurants is the ‘Gateway to Cuaro’ that is renowned throughout the rest of the world. But all this glitz and glamour hides the original and vital function of the port - the imports and exports that keep the black, industrial heart of the region running smoothly. Landmarks: Souhgem Inn, the container port.
O - Duskvine Village Gym: Blake (Dark) Residents: Blake, Florence (hometown). Surrounded on all sides by the gnarled and twisted trunks of the dark and gloomy Serpent Forest, the secluded Duskvine Village can seem unwelcoming at first, but the hesitant villagers are sure to warm to newcomers eventually… as long as they’re not with the cities’ logging companies that is. Landmarks: Serpent Forest.
P - Shoalreef Atoll Residents: Finneas, Sheldon (hometown). Landmarks: Shoalreef Hotel, Shoalreef Trench.
a - Gallanta Ruins Known to few and explored by even fewer, the extent of the Gallanta Ruins are a mystery, but it is rumoured they were the hub of a great civilisation that once ruled Cuaro.
b - Victory Road Enter at your peril, leave at your great relief - only the bravest or foolhardiest of trainers enter Victory road and many still never reach the Pokemon League on the other side.
c - Frostwind Falls A near-freezing cascade of water pours forth from this northern cave system into Frostwind Lake below. Many rare Pokemon can be found here if you are willing to scale the waterfall and brave the icy tunnels.
d - Mt. Igna Mt. Igna is guarded and closely monitored by the Igna Knights, and for good reason - the ‘mountain’ is really a highly active volcano that could erupt at any moment.
e - Safari Zone Lush grass, rare Pokemon and free reign for only 200 Pokedollars? It’s no wonder trainers have come flocking back since the old Safari Zone building was refurbished.
f - Serpent Forest Hidden Area Even denser and darker than the previously explored sections of Cuaro’s massive forest, it is rumoured that this area might even be home to a legendary Pokemon.
g - Riven Peak The old legends say that, long ago, the Tempest Mountains were the setting for a mighty battle between the minions of Rayquaza - the spirit of the air, and Groudon - the beast of the earth, in which a valiant Zephound laid down its life in one mighty strike at the monster’s greatest strong-hold - using all his energy to tear the mountain in half and allow Rayquaza to finish the battle once and for all. This mountain - the tallest peak in the range - stands to this day as a jagged reminder.
h - Slitherback Marsh Along the eastern edge of Cuaro’s main landmass, where the spine of the Serpent Forest meets the shore, there lies a treacherous path of sucking mud, deceiving islands and ancient reed beds. The Slitherback Marsh is home to rare Pokemon and eccentric people that are, respectively, adapted and simply crazy enough to live in the sprawling estuary.
i - Labyrinth Deep underground, in the roots of the Tempest Mountains, a maze of twisting paths and half-collapsed chambers holds dangers, mysteries, and treasures of the highest order. But beware, treasures such as these do not go unguarded.
j - Ouwahlu Pass Ouwahlu Pass is the only way through the sandblasted, desiccated, outcrop of the Tempest foothills that cuts the Ouwahlu Desert in two.
k - Shoalreef Trench Darker than the night sky and deeper than Riven Peak is tall, this mysterious rift in the ocean floor could be home to all manner of rare deep-sea Pokemon.
